Match analysis
Learn to observe your matches
A match can help you ask better questions about your game. This guide suggests a way to observe; it does not offer an analysis service or accept video submissions.
01
Choose a question
Start with something specific: what happens after your return, when you lose the net or how you respond to the middle ball. Trying to observe everything makes patterns harder to recognise.
02
Describe before interpreting
Record the situation, positions, chosen shot and next response. ‘I attacked off balance from the back’ provides more information than ‘I played badly’.
03
Look for repetitions and exceptions
Compare several rallies and observe when the situation is handled well too. One isolated error does not establish a persistent weakness or explain its cause by itself.
04
Turn the finding into practice
Choose a recurring situation and a change you can observe. Look at the same situation again after practising and review whether the learning appears in matches.
